Getting started

How to become a voice actor in Buffalo and Western New York

You don’t need to move to New York or Los Angeles to break into voiceover. The world has changed, and remote connections make it easier than ever to work from where you are. Here’s the honest path — and how our classes walk you through each step.

1. Get a feel for the craft

Start with a single-session Voice Acting & Voiceover Performance 101 masterclass. You’ll learn basic mic technique, the major genres of voiceover, how the voiceover world and jobs actually work, and the major scams to avoid — and you’ll leave with a short recording of your own work.

2. Pick a genre and go deep

Move into a four-week genre class — commercial, character work like animation & video game voice acting, or narration — and build real technique through copy analysis, direction, and mock live sessions with a studio engineer.

3. Learn to record yourself

Today’s voice actors audition and record jobs from home. Our recording & editing class teaches you to capture clean, job-ready audio and connect to studios worldwide with tools like Source-Connect and ipDTL.

4. Build a demo and keep sharp

When you’re truly ready, work toward a professional demo — your calling card for finding work and representation — and stay in shape with our drop-in Voiceover Workout Group.
